The
small city of Giano dell’ Umbria is situated to the foot of the Monte
Martani. Its position is central, compared to the cities of Spoleto,
Montefalco, Assisi Orvieto and Todi.
Typical medieval center, it has a walls in which can be seen roman and
medieval ruins. At the centre of the country, next to Town Hall, there is
the church of S. Maria XII century and San Michele with fourteenth century
exterior and interior.
At the entry of the country there is the church of St. Francesco (XIV
century), in which have been unearth important frescos attributed to
Giovanni of Corraduccio, Foligno’s painter of the XIV-XV century.
One can see in the surroundings, the abbey of St. Felice, interesting
romanesque building with three aisles, a raised presbytery and a crypt with
the sarcophagus of the Saint.
It offers a splendid hilly landscape too with paths to cross with bicycle or
